Built To Spill wanted to find out what their music was like so they locked themselves in Doug Martsch's garage. Without a
tentative conclusion or hypothesis Doug (Treepeople, The Halo Benders), Brett Netson, and Ralf Youtz began to experiment.
The songs are haunting, Doug's lyrics hint at politics or could be personal. Rational thoughts are sacrificed to the metric and melodic needs of the song.
